National Tree Growing Day

PS in Tharaka Nithi County calls for  Commitment to a Greener Future.
The Principal Secretary of the State Department for Parliamentary Affairs, CPA Aurelia Rono, joined Governor Muthomi Njuki and other leaders in Tharaka Nithi County to mark the National Tree Growing Day.
The PS, who was the Chief Guest, underscored the profound significance of tree planting for the environment, economy, and society.
She said today's event  aligns with the Presidential directive to plant 15 billion trees by 2032, aiming for a 30% increase in forest cover.
The ongoing commitment involves the ambitious goal of planting 500 million trees during the short rains, demonstrating a steadfast dedication to sustainable practices and environmental stewardship,she noted.
She said, going forward, her State Department will institutionalize environmental conservation by integrating tree planting into all its functions.
The PS noted that this tree planting initiative resonates with Kenya's Vision 2030, actively contributing to sustainable development goals and fostering a green economy.
She urged Kenyans to embrace a culture of tree growing, emphasizing the role it plays in nurturing a greener and more sustainable environment.
