SDPA Hosts the State Department of Public Works during its GLA Roundtable Meetings that commenced today
State Department for Parliamentary Affairs hosted the team from the State Department of Public Works, led by Secretary Nicholus Mutua. The session focused on reviewing critical policies that will shape Kenya’s built environment and ensure our cities are resilient, sustainable, and modern.
During the discussions, technical teams and policymakers explored ways to integrate Green Building Standards and implement robust safety and testing protocols. They also mapped out a roadmap for eco-friendly construction, in line with global climate commitments, and examined strategies to streamline building approvals through the National E-Buildings Action Plan, enhancing transparency and efficiency across government projects.
The session concluded with the finalization of the Public Office Accommodation Policy, aimed at providing safe and cost-effective workspaces for public service delivery.
These Roundtable discussions are crucial for identifying legal and operational gaps early, ensuring that all policies are aligned with the Bottom-Up Economic Transformative Agenda (BETA) and are ready for smooth transition to Parliament. By bringing together technical teams and legislators in a structured forum, the Government is ensuring that the laws governing roads, buildings, and public spaces are modern, inclusive, and implementable.
Building on earlier deliberations, the afternoon session reinforced the State Department for Parliamentary Affairs’ commitment to coordinated, evidence-based legislative planning. Each discussion brings Kenya a step closer to a safer, more efficient, and modern built environment.
