State Department for Parliamentary Affairs

Coordinating Kenya's National Government Legislative Agenda

SDPA Commences GLA Prioritization Roundtable Programme

Railways Building, Nairobi.

The State Department for Parliamentary Affairs on 23 March 2026 commenced the Government Legislative Agenda (GLA) Prioritization Roundtable Programme, a month-long exercise bringing together Ministries and State Departments to align legislative priorities and enhance coordination in the implementation of Government business.

The opening session, led by Principal Secretary Dr. Aurelia Rono, underscored the need for a structured, coordinated and time-bound approach to the development and processing of legislation across Government.

The State Department for Lands and Physical Planning, represented by Secretary Administration Florence Amoit, was the first to present its policy and legislative initiatives. The presentation outlined key Bills, policy proposals and ongoing reforms within the sector, and highlighted their role in strengthening land governance and planning frameworks.

As the coordinating entity of the Government Legislative Agenda, the State Department for Parliamentary Affairs continues to play a central role in harmonizing legislative priorities across Government. The Roundtable serves as a working platform to review progress, identify bottlenecks and agree on priority interventions to facilitate the timely processing of legislative proposals.

The forum further provides an opportunity for Ministries and State Departments to align timelines, enhance policy coherence and ensure that legislative interventions are responsive to national priorities.

The programme is expected to strengthen legislative responsiveness, accelerate reforms and support the delivery of a coherent legal framework aligned to Kenya’s socio-economic transformation agenda.

The Roundtable will continue with presentations from other Ministries and State Departments in the coming weeks.
