What We Do
The State Department is responsible for the coordination of the identification, prioritization, and enactment of policies and legislation vital in driving the national development agenda. Ensuring public participation and stakeholder involvement in policy and legislation development within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). The State Department continuously monitors and evaluates the progress of policy and legislative initiatives to ensure timely achievement of the government's developmental objectives.
The State Department plays a pivotal role in coordinating parliamentary liaison services across MDAs. It fosters seamless interactions between the Executive and Parliament, ensuring the effective and harmonious handling of Government business within the Parliament. Collaborations with MDAs and other relevant institutions are initiated to enhance capacity in policy and legislation-making processes and parliamentary liaison. Furthermore, the department collaborates with Parliament to strengthen accountability within MDAs.
