Enhancing Governance: GLA Report
The Principal Secretary State Department for Parliamentary Affairs Madam Aurelia Rono graced the Government Legislative Agenda (GLA) report writing workshop held in Nakuru where she said that the GLA is a crucial component of the Government's flagship Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), aimed at propelling our nation to greater achievements.
She noted that the report writing process began with GLA roundtable meetings where State Departments presented their legislative and policy initiatives to a multi-agency validation panel.
This panel included representatives from various key goverment offices such as the Office of the President, the Office of the Deputy President, the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, the State Law Office, the National Treasury, the State Department for Devolution, the State Department for Performance and Delivery Management, the Kenya Law Reform Commission, and the Kenya Institute of Public Policy and Analysis (KIPPRA).
She said: "This report underscores the State Department's unwavering commitment to transforming government legislation as mandated by Executive Order No. 1 of 2023, which empowers the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary through the State Department to drive the legislative agenda in line with the goals of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The primary objectives include enhancing governance, upholding the rule of law, and promoting prosperity throughout Kenya."
The PS explained that GLA Report marks a significant milestone in the Republic of Kenya." It will serve as the official repository of National Government policy and legislative reform initiatives, highlighting our dedication to enacting laws that effectively address the pressing challenges facing our nation."
The Principal Secretary expressed gratitude to the team for producing a report that will enhance governance, uphold the rule of law, reinforce the Government's commitment to devolution, and create an environment in which every Kenyan can thrive.
